About Me

Thank you for visiting my blog page! I thought for my first article, I would tell you a little bit about myself: my life, my struggles and diagnoses, and why I have decided to start a blog specifically for teens with mental illnesses. I hope you enjoy this introduction and decide to visit my page again soon!

To begin, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Kylee, and I am 16 years old. I live in Alabama with my wonderful parents, Chad and Monica, and my beautiful older sisters, Blakelee and Ashton. I also have the sweetest dog in the world, but I won’t get into that right now, because I would never stop gushing about him. An additional (very important) fact you must know about me is I have struggled with mental illness for most of my life, and I plan on telling you a lot more about that.

By now, you have probably gathered that I live a great life with a loving family. But, that’s usually what we gather from anyone’s Instagram page or Facebook. I’m here to let you know that the outside doesn’t always reflect the inside. If you saw me in public, you probably would never have guessed what I’ve had to fight through every single day, and that’s true of a lot of people. I have Severe Anxiety and Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Emetophobia, and Depression. I have dealt with Anxiety and OCD since I was about 5 years old, and it’s only gotten worse. I started medication around the age of 9, but in July of 2019, I came to the harsh realization that I needed Psychiatric help. I am in the middle of transitioning medications and recovering, and I hope to encourage you by sharing my knowledge and advice.

The reason I decided to create a blog is simple: I have come to the conclusion that the stigma and misinformation surrounding mental illness can be absolutely stifling, and teenagers generally don’t find the support they need. As a teen who understands what you’re going through, my goal is to create a place where we can all learn from each other, support one another, and share our stories as a community.

Though this was a short article about me and what I hope to achieve with this blog, I have so much more content planned! I would greatly appreciate if you helped me build this little support group by sharing my posts and commenting! Moreover, if you need to talk to someone about anything, please don’t hesitate to email me at theanxiousteensofamerica@gmail.com. Thank you so much for taking the time to read to the end!
